This is an introduction to spinning with a drop spindle.  The cost includes materials and a basic wooden drop spindle.  Class time is scheduled for 8:30-11:30 AM Saturday March with Sherry Murtle in Building C. 

The class with introduce you to drafting and spinning fiber into yarn.  Students will be introduced to raw wool prep, and the steps to making it into a yarn.  There will be various  tools  demonstrated to prep fiber, including the terms used in spinning. Fees include a basic wooden drop spindle and 2 ounces of easy-spinning US wool for you to get started on your journey. 


The class will help students feel more comfortable and confident in steps to making yarn.   The class will provide a better understanding of fibers, and the tools used for spinning yarn.  Are you ready to try spinning?

Step up your knitting game with colorwork!

This is scheduled for 8:30-11:30 AM on Saturday March 2, 2024 with Donald Waalen-Radzevicius in Building C. 


  1. In this class, Don will teach mosaic knitting, an easy introduction to colorwork knitting using two colors and slipped stitch rather than floats. The project is his new pattern, Corraled, a beautiful cowl that anyone would enjoy. 

    Class materials needed: 2 contrasting colors of DK weight yarn, shown in Modewerks DK SW merino 231 yards per 100 gram skein, 1 skein each.  Circular needles size 7 20 inches. 

Bonnie Ohrt is known for her realistic needle felted portraits of animals. In this class, you will have a chance to select from a number of subjects to produce your own piece of art. Her class will be in Building C. 

Included in the class are all the materials and tools that you will need. No children under 8 please, because the needles are very sharp. 

If you have always wanted to try it, now is the time. Needle felting is a rapidly expanding part of the fiber arts spectrum, and the possibilities are tremendous. 

Jean Gross will be teaching basic stitches so that you can make a Tunisian Crochet Cowl. 

Supplies and tools needed are 3 ounces of DK (3) weight yarn, 4.5 mm Tunisian crochet hook (cabled or straight) and optional, a 4.5 mm crochet hook.

Don Waalen-Radivicius (@minnesotasticks)will be teaching his Latvian braid cowl, Roping Steers. He will also teach the Latvian twist and other stitches, time allowing.  (please excuse this listing because it is incomplete for image and materials). It can still be ordered if you are interested in these techniques. There will be a pattern with the class. 

Supplies needed for the class include: the cowl is shown in Modewerk DK 231 yards per 100 gram skein, SW merino, MC roadside Cowboy,CC 1 50 g (115 yds) Cowboy Jeans, CC2 50 g (115 yds) Rode Hard. Size 7 circular needle 20 inches. ( Or similar yarn.) 

Prerequisites: Basic knitting skills such as Knit and Purl stitch with experience using a circular needle.
